Strengthening program
for associations
of peasants in Montes de María.
Business strengthening for farmers’ organizations in Montes de María, aimed at closing inequality gaps identified through the Organizational Development Index, and fostering more equitable and sustainable growth in the region.
Thanks to funding from USAID and in collaboration with IOM (UN Migration) and Hilando Vidas, this initiative sought to strengthen Peasant Associations in Montes de María through training and support in business development.
We have two
associations of
peasants:

Asoapicol
A non-profit organization formed by 30 farming families, it has promoted beekeeping and agricultural activities in Montes de María and Sucre since its founding in 2005. It specializes in the production and marketing of pure, high-quality honey. Its mission is to promote economic, social, and environmental development in Colosó and Montes de María, improving the quality of life of its members and the community through productive and training projects.
Asoprocoas
An association comprised of approximately 35 families in San Jacinto, Bolívar, dedicated to the production, processing, and marketing of agricultural products, with a special focus on cocoa farming. Founded in 2013, it seeks to develop the economic potential of Montes de María, a region affected by violence. Its goal is to improve the conditions of producers and promote sustainable and equitable development in the area.
