An acceleration program focused on health and wellness
Lafiya Innovators is guided by the WHO's Health Determinants (HD) and focuses on businesses that aim to undertake initiatives in health and well-being.
Lafiya Innovators is a program for those who want to start a business in health, startups focused on well-being in emerging economies, mainly around public health, and that have a direct impact on SDG 3.
The program seeks to support startups in the incubation and acceleration stages. In the 2021, 2022, and 2023 editions, we have selected a total of 60 startups from all over Colombia. Eighteen of them had all their expenses paid to visit the health ecosystem in Basel, Switzerland, and received CHF 10,000 Swiss francs for product development.
In the 2023 version, we selected 20 startups from Colombia in the incubation stage that were focused on entrepreneurship in healthcare. Five of them had the opportunity to visit the healthcare ecosystem in Basel, Switzerland, in 2023, with all expenses paid, and received CHF 10,000 Swiss francs for product development.
Companies can focus on any area of health and wellness, such as clinical care, public health, community health, nutrition, and water, among others.

Startups can focus on operational areas of healthcare, such as logistics or fintech or edtech solutions, and can have a B2B or B2C approach.

Solutions that directly impact one or more Determinants of Health must clearly explain this and why participating in the program is strategic for their growth.

First Phase
The selected startups receive:

An initial assessment to define their baseline.

+10 group capacity-building sessions on topics such as business models and operational strategy.

Three personalized guidance sessions throughout the program to apply what they learn in the workshops.

Up to three consultations with experts in tax and accounting strategy, intellectual property management, and high-performance team building.

Participation in two speed networking events to connect your startup with the global ecosystem.

Discounts and free services from program partners, such as Amazon Web Services and Hubspot.

Present your pitch at DemoDay, with an audience of investors and support entities from the national ecosystem.
Second Phase
A panel of judges selects five startups for the second phase of the program:
This phase will allow startups to access financial resources to continue developing their product, subject to approval of a work plan, and take part in an all-expenses-paid trip to the entrepreneurship and health ecosystem in Basel, Switzerland.
The objective of the immersion is to recognize best practices, coordinate with the ecosystem, and create connections with other Impact Hubs participating in the Lafiya Program.
The companies gain access to a privileged setting to validate their business models in the Swiss ecosystem, connect with potential partners and investors in Europe, and develop their scaling plan with the help of experts.
